Nearly half of Estonians satisfied with their work life – mental health is rated very good by 13 %, quite good by 44 %

Some 40 percent of Estonians are quite satisfied with their work life, and 6 percent are very satisfied, according to a survey conducted among more than 8,000 workers this fall by job classifieds portal CVKeskus.ee and wage information agency Palgainfo Agentuur.

The recent survey explored people’s attitudes regarding their work and life arrangements. Results show that just under half of the respondents are either very or quite satisfied with their work life. Mental health is rated very good by 13 percent of people and quite good by 44 percent. Overall, nearly one in two participants, or 48 percent, is satisfied with their life in general.

Palgainfo Agentuur and cvkeskus.ee’s survey among employers revealed that over a third of organizations offering various benefits also provide mental health support, which is generally available to all employees.

Respondents were also surveyed on how staff replacements are managed during vacations or illnesses. Replacement arrangements were rated very good by 10 percent and good by 27 percent of employees, but only 11 percent said their organization has a clear policy for it. Usually, a direct manager finds a replacement, but sometimes employees must find someone themselves.

Palgainfo Agentuur and CVKeskus.ee conduct biannual surveys among employers and employees, gathering opinions on salary changes and exploring labor market behavior, employee satisfaction, and motivation. This fall, 8,140 employees and job seekers participated in the survey. The employer survey results are based on feedback from 407 employers. The survey partner is telecom operator Elisa Estonia.
