Lidl Latvia voted best employer in Latvia last year

Retail chain Lidl Latvija was recognized as the best employer in Latvia in 2023 at the awards ceremony of the online recruitment company Alma Career Latvia, previously known as CV-Online Latvia.

Meanwhile, the second place went to Swedbank, and the third – to Latvijas Aptieka pharmacy.

Riga Stradins University was awarded the best public sector employer in 2023.

The “Growth of the Year” award went to Euro Live Technologies.

The award ceremony also announced the best employers in 2023 by region. In the Vidzeme region, the best employer last year was Fazer Latvija bakery, the second place went to Cesu Alus brewery, and the third place – to Valmieras Stikla Skiedra fiberglass maker.

In the Kurzeme region, the best employer last year was Lauma Fabrics lingerie maker, with Brabantia Latvia in second place and Diana in third place.

In the Zemgale region, the first place went to Virsi-A energy commodities seller, followed by Dobeles Dzirnavnieks grain mill and Bauskas Alus brewery, while in the Latgale region the best employer was Latvijas Maiznieks bakery, the second place went to Rezeknes Galas Kombinats meatpacker, and the third place was awarded to Latgales Piens dairy company.

Companies were also awarded in a number of business categories. In the retail sector, Lidl Latvija was named the winner, followed by Virsi A and Circle K Latvia, while in the financial sector, Swedbank was awarded the best employer in 2023, with SEB Banka taking second place and Balta taking third place.

In the manufacturing sector, the first prize was awarded to Madara Cosmetics, the second prize to Grindeks pharmeutical company and the third prize to Latvijas Finieris plywood producer. In the IT and telecommunications sector, Latvijas Mobilais Telefons was voted the best employer last year, followed by Tet and Bite Latvija. In the transport and logistics sector, Air Baltic Corporation took first place, DPD Latvija took second place, and Omniva was awarded the third best employer in the transport and logistics sector last year.

Meanwhile, in the HoReCa sector, the best employer last year was Lido, the second place was awarded to Hotel Jurmala SPA, and the third place was awarded to BBH Investments, which manages Baltic Beach Hotel. In the international business services sector, the first prize was awarded to Circle K Business Centre, the second prize went to the Latvian branch of Accenture, while the third prize went to SEB Global Services, a company of the SEB Banka Group.

For the 13th year, the company has conducted the largest employee survey “TOP Employer” to find out the most popular and recognized employers in Latvia in several categories.

In total, a record number of respondents – more than 17,000 – took part in the TOP Employer 2023 survey, voting for last year’s most desirable employer, as well as identifying leaders in business sectors and regions.
