Health minister seeks to activate health tourism and student exchanges with UAE

Latvian Health Minister Hosams Abu Meri (New Unity) today met with the new United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Latvia Noora Juma to discuss the draft cooperation agreement, health tourism and student exchange, the Health Ministry informed LETA.

The draft cooperation agreement, which has been sent to the UAE for approval, provides for the development of cooperation between the two countries in medical tourism, as well as in the event of disease threats. The project will promote the development and implementation of joint projects in the field of health and medical sciences, as well as ensure the exchange of experience and knowledge between professionals in the field.

During the meeting, Abu Meri highlighted the opportunities of health tourism for foreigners and the quality of health services in Latvia. The minister said that the UAE has great potential for growth in this area.

The minister also highlighted the opportunities for foreigners to study medicine at Riga Stradins University (RSU), which provides several study programs in English.
