Number of passengers travelling through Tallinn Airport in September up by a fifth compared to last year

In September, 333,183 passengers travelled through Tallinn Airport, which is up by a fifth compared to last year. In September, 15 airlines operated scheduled flights from Tallinn Airport, offering 39 different destinations.

The biggest airlines were airBaltic with direct flights to 21 destinations (28% of all passengers) and Ryanair, which offered direct flights from Tallinn to 11 destinations (17% of all passengers). Stockholm, Riga and Frankfurt were the most popular destinations of scheduled flights. In terms of total air traffic, Antalya in Turkey is also an important destination, mainly served by charter flights. In September, there were 4,038 flight operations in total, which is an average of 134 landings and take-offs per day.

Eero Pärgmäe, a member of the management board of Tallinn Airport, says the September figures are very pleasing, but the winter season will arrive soon and the number of passengers will be more modest. “There are two seasons in the world of aviation: summer and winter. They change when the clocks do. When the summer season ends, some of the seasonal routes are closed as usual, and/or replaced partially with routes of the winter season. The winter schedule of Tallinn Airport, which will last from late October until the end of March, includes almost 40 direct flight destinations. The number of flights to London, Amsterdam and Barcelona, for example, will also increase,” said Pärgmäe.

A total of 8,816 passengers travelled through regional airports in Estonia in September: 4,279 in Tartu (including 4,192 on regular flights between Tartu and Helsinki), 3,246 in Kuressaare, 1268 in Kärdla and 17 in Pärnu. The airstrip on Ruhnu served 6 travellers.
