President Edgars Rinkevics congratulates Republican candidate Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. presidential election.
In a post on X, Rinkevics says he is looking forward to working with Trump to strengthen bilateral relations and the transatlantic partnership.
“Europe needs a strong United States and the United Sates needs a strong Europe. Latvia is and will remain a strong and reliable partner of the United States,” said Rinkevics.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has also congratulated Trump on his victory in the U.S. presidential election. “The U.S. is a key strategic ally of Lithuania. We both take our security seriously. Lithuania currently allocates 3.5 percent of GDP to defense and will continue increasing our investment,” Nauseda wrote.
“Transatlantic unity is crucial!” he added.
Trump on Wednesday announced his victory in the U.S. presidential election.
According to the latest estimates, Trump is just a few votes short of the 270 electoral votes he needs to win, while the Democratic candidate, current Vice-President Kamala Harris, no longer has a chance of defeating him.
