Estonia’s new vehicle tax calculator, which was developed by the Estonian Transport Administration and the Tax and Customs Board and launched in mid-October, received more than one million queries during the course of less than three weeks.
Estonia’s vehicle tax law will take effect on January 1, 2025. In October, the two institutions encouraged people to check their information in the traffic register and to update their tax details via the Tax and Customs Board’s E-service before the new tax takes effect. The new vehicle tax calculator that was introduced at that time has been used actively during the past several weeks.
The calculator surpassed the one million query mark in three weeks’ time. As of Wednesday, there have been slightly more than 1,100,000 queries for the vehicle tax calculator. Data have been sought on unique license plates more than 535,000 times and more than 440,000 of these have related to vehicles in the traffic register. Over the past nine days, there has been an average of more than 100,000 queries per day.
The vehicle tax calculator allows vehicle owners to calculate their vehicle’s annual tax and registration fee on the basis of the license plate or the technical data of the vehicle. The calculator is available at the Tax and Customs Board Website and the Transport Administration’s E-service.
