Estonian company expands to Finland

Milrem Robotics is a Tallinn-based developer of robotics and autonomous systems, and it has just opened a subsidiary in Finland with an office in Helsinki.

“We are continuing to expand our footprint in Europe, and the office in Helsinki is natural progression for us,” Milrem Robotics CEO Kuldar Väärsi said in a news release. He added that Finland has an advanced technology sector and a powerful defence industry, which makes the country a good place for innovation while also offering an opportunity to work with key partners.

Ten specialists are currently working at the office in Helsinki, including engineers, sales representatives and project managers who focus on European Union defence projects. The CEO of the subsidiary is Kimmo Laine, and he says that there are plans to increase employee numbers in coming years.

“Finland has a rich pool of technology talent which provides us with a great opportunity for further expansion,” he says.

By expanding into Finland, Milrem Robotics hopes to strengthen partnerships with the country’s defence institutions by contributing toward the development of innovative solutions that are tailored to the needs of the Finnish defence forces.

As of now, Milrem Robotics has delivered unmanned systems to 19 countries all around the world, Ukraine included. Most recently, Sweden and Japan became the latest countries to procure the company’s main product, THeMIS UGV.
