Lithuanian Airports (LTOU), which runs the country’s three airports, had a record-high number of passengers last year. 10% more than in 2023, and 100,000 more than before the pandemic in 2019, the organisation reported on Friday.
LTOU expects passenger traffic this year to rise to around 6.85 million passengers.
CEO Simonas Bartkus says that the institution has successfully refocused its activities toward the West and particularly toward Germany, to which 10 different lights are offered from Lithuania. Passenger traffic has increased by around 20%.
“All of our flights today head West, North and South, and passenger flow data show that our decisions have paid off,” says Bartkus. “We are clearly maintaining LTOU’s strategic development, and we are also making a contribution toward the country’s economy.”
Vilnius Airport had a 9% increase in passenger numbers in 2024, with 4.8 million people using its services. Kaunas served 1.4 million passengers, or 10%, while the number of passengers rose by 23% to nearly 400,000 in Palanga.
The total number of flights rose by 7% to 56,800 last year, and around 22,000 tonnes of cargo were transported. That represented a 10% increase.
