The prosecutor’s office on Thursday brought a suspicion against fuel seller Olerex and its board member Andres Linnas of submitting false information, the Estonian daily Postimees writes.
According to the suspicion, the company’s board member Andres Linnas ordered employees to submit false information to the Environmental Board regarding the fuel in the tanker that arrived in Estonia on Dec. 30 of last year in the interest of the company.
Gerd Raudsepp, prosecutor at the South District Prosecutor’s Office, said the basis of the suspicion is the documents submitted to the Environmental Board on Jan. 13 this year by Olerex employees claiming that 9,000 tons of diesel fuel based on renewable raw materials had been brought to Estonia in the tanker.
“In reality, the tanker contained diesel fuel of fossil origin,” Raudsepp said.
“We will check the information received in the raising of the suspicion and will then analyze what actions need to be taken in order to complete the pre-trial investigation,” he added.
On Dec. 30 of last year, a tanker arrived in Estonia carrying Olerex’s fuel, from which the Tax and Customs Board took a sample. Based on the sample, it was established that it was regular winter diesel fuel. Two weeks later, Olerex submitted data to the Tax and Customs Board that HVO, a biofuel based on renewable raw material, was delivered by the tanker, which would have ensured the fulfillment of Olerex’s biofuel requirement in the extent of 7.51 percent.
