Solar park Carnikavas SES, worth about EUR 8 million, will be inaugurated in Carnikava next Wednesday, November 1, at 10 a.m., as Merito Partners representative Agnese Ruberte informed LETA.
Investment fund Merito Partners, together with renewable energy project developer Saules Energy and Swedbank, has invested EUR 8 million in one of the most ambitious renewable energy projects in Latvia to date.
This is the fourth solar park to be put in operation this year as part of Latvian investors’ green infrastructure project.
Carnikava SES has 22,300 solar panels over an area of 11.7 hectares. The new solar park has a capacity of 12 megawatts and will generate more than 12,300 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, which is equivalent to the average annual electricity consumption of 5,860 households.
Carnikava SES is owned by local investment fund Merito Sustainable Energy Fund I. This year, the fund has completed construction of three new solar parkks in Zilupe, Brenguli and Incukalns, with a total capacity of 12.9 megawatts.
Merito Partners was established in June 2022 and has a share capital of EUR 200,000. The owners of the company are Aigars Kesenfelds (76.92 percent), Martins Baumanis (11.83 percent), Mikus Janvars (5.92 percent), Janis Pizics (2.96 percent), Laila Hartmane (1.18 percent) and Vairis Dmitrijevs (1.18 percent).
According to Firmas.lv, Saules Energy was registered in February 2023 with a share capital of EUR 10,000. The company’s shareholders are KS Merito Sustainable Energy Fund I AIF (75 percent), Solar Energy Fund and Eco Energy Investments (9.38 percent each), and LG Management (6.25 percent).
