Latvia and Monaco to exchange experience on development of specialized medical services

Health Minister Hossam Abu Meri (New Unity) and Monaco’s Minister of Health and Social Affairs Christophe Robino today signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation in the field of health and medical sciences, envisaging exchange of experience in the development of specialized medical services, the health minister informed LETA.

The cooperation agreement provides that the countries will cooperate in the development of joint projects, exchange of experience and competences in the medical field, health economics and coordination of preventive measures, as well as in the development of scientific research. Abu Meri considers it essential to foster direct relations between health education institutions, as universities in both countries provide a high level of medical and health studies.

During the period of the agreement, it is also planned to actively promote medical and health tourism, the minister said.

Robino also stressed the importance of exchanges of experience between professionals in both the medical and preventive fields, welcoming the opportunity to get to know the activities of Latvian medical institutions.

The signed agreement provides for the development of cooperation in the organization of health services, the introduction of new medical technologies and cooperation in the event of disease threats.

The parties agreed to exchange experience in the development of specialized medical services. Experts from both countries could implement joint projects in priority areas of health and medical sciences.

The exchange of experience between professionals will also be promoted through direct cooperation between medical educational institutions, centers and other related institutions. The education and training of health personnel will be expanded on the basis of harmonized qualification requirements.

The cooperation agreement with Monaco has been signed for a period of five years.
