Latvia, Israel plan to expand cooperation, especially in economics, education, science, culture and health care

On August 12, the Acting State Secretary of the Foireign Ministry, Andzejs Viļumsons, welcomed the new Ambassador of Israel, Sandra Simovich, for an accreditation visit, LETA learned from the ministry.

During the meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction with Latvia-Israel bilateral cooperation and contacts between officials. They were of the same mind regarding the need to expand current cooperation, especially in economic relations, education, science, culture, health care and other areas.

Vilumsons and Simovich also discussed current global security challenges, with a particular focus on Russian aggression in Ukraine and the escalation in the Middle East.

The official accreditation ceremony with the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevics, is scheduled for August 13.
