Latvian ambassador expresses solidarity with Spain over flooding in Valencia

Latvia’s new ambassador to Spain, Jānis Zlamets, has expressed Latvia’s solidarity with Spain in the wake of the recent flooding disaster in Valencia, LETA was told by the Foreign Ministry.

Zlamets presented his credentials to King Felipe VI on Monday, and during the visit, the envoy praised bilateral relations between Latvia and Spain, not forgetting Felipe’s visit to Latvia on June 25.

Zlamets also thanked Spain for the soldiers whom it has contributed to NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group in Latvia. Spain has also been a regular participant in the NATO-led Baltic airspace policing mission. Mr Zlamets also outlined aspects of closer and deeper bilateral links between Latvia and Spain, focusing on mutual integration into the European Union and NATO so as to jointly address various global challenges.

Ambassador Zlamets has replaced Māris Klišāns as Latvia’s envoy to Spain.
