Lithuania ranked 2nd in global prefabricated wooden house exports in 2023

Despite a challenging year, Lithuania was the world’s second-largest exporter of prefabricated wooden houses in 2023, with exports of Lithuanian-made buildings with exterior and interior finishing elements made of wood or particle board totaling 164 million euros, the Verslo Zinios business news website reported on Tuesday.

It cited data from the UN Comtrade database, which shows that Lithuanian companies’ export revenue from wooden houses dropped by 27.5 percent in 2023, down from 226.3 million euros in 2022.

Lithuania accounted for 9.3 percent of the world’s total exports of prefabricated wooden buildings last year.

Tomas Braskys, head of the Association of Wooden House Manufacturers, told the website that the decline in export revenue was due to reduced demand from Scandinavia, their key export market.

Estonia led global wooden house exports last year with 390 million euros and Poland ranked third with 142.2 million euros.
