Lithuanian company provides EUR 4 million for Ukrainian electricity grid

The Ignitis Group in Lithuania has provided EUR 4 million in aid to Ukraine so that it can purchase equipment for another 120 megawatts (MW) of power generation capacity in the war-torn country, the state-owned energy group announced on Tuesday.

“The funds will go toward the Ukrainian Energy support fund.  They will be co-ordinated by the Energy Community Secretariat, which is an international organisation dedicated toward the rebuilding Ukraine’s energy infrastructure,” the Ignitis Group said in a statement.

It signed an agreement with the Energy Community on Monday.

The additional generation capacity will ensure the provision of electricity to some 420,000 Ukrainian households, the group promised.

“Due to the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine, information about specific facilities and equipment that is to be acquired in specific territories is classified,” it added.
