Omniva’s new Kaunas logistics center to serve as Baltic gateway to Western markets – CEO

Omniva’s new 42-million-euro logistics center, opened near Kaunas on Wednesday, marks the group’s largest investment and reflects a strong commitment to Lithuania and the Baltic region, according to Mart Magi, the Baltic parcel delivery company’s board chairman.

“The logistics center in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone is strategically located to serve as the Baltic gateway to Western markets and to increase our capacity to handle the growing volume of international shipments,” he said in a press release.

The company says the nearly 22,000-square-meter facility is the most advanced in the Baltics, capable of automatically sorting up to a third of a million parcels per day.

The center is equipped with a parcel sorting line manufactured by Equinox Europe in the Netherlands, which cost about 10 million euros and can sort 12,000 different parcels per hour to 600 different destinations.

Omniva delivered more than 16 million parcels in the three Baltic countries in the first six months of this year, an 8 percent increase year-on-year. It operates 500 parcel machines in Lithuania and more than 1,200 across the Baltics.

Omniva LT accounted for 27.9 percent of all parcel lockers in Lithuania in late 2023, according to the Communications Regulatory Authority.
