Russian drone’s violation of Polish airspace is on NATO’s agenda – Spruds

The incident in which a Russian drone reportedly entered Polish airspace is on NATO’s agenda, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds (Progressives) said in an interview with TV3 channel on Tuesday.

Asked whether such incidents should be followed by a response from Poland or NATO, the minister said that there are specific procedures for such cases, but declined to elaborate.

Spruds said that in such cases consultations are held and that the issue is on the Alliance’s agenda.

It is necessary to keep in mind that Poland’s border is also NATO’s external border, the minister stressed.

The ministr said that if such situations will repeat and become a regular occurrence, a concrete reaction will follow.

As reported, during a massive missile and drone strike that Russia launched at Ukraine on Monday morning, an unidentified object entered Polish airspace and later fell on Polish territory, the Polish military informed.

“Most likely it was a drone and we assume so, because the trajectory of the flight and the speed indicate that it was definitely not a missile,” Jacek Goryszewski, spokesperson for the Polish army’s operational command told Reuters.
