Smartpost Itella to change brand name

Smartpost Itella, which is part of the Posti Group of Finland, is planning to adopt SmartPosti as its new brand name during the first half of 2025. This will mean dropping the word Itella from its name and moving even closer to its parent company, Posti Group.

This brand transition will occur in all three Baltic countries. The company is also planning to install its first outdoor parcel machines later this autumn.

Posti is one of the leading logistics companies in Finland, Sweden and the Baltics with parcel machines, road transport, comprehensive warehouse logistics, courier and express delivery services. The company has around 17,000 employees in the countries in which it operates.

Gediminas Mickus, director for Smartpost Itella in the Baltic States, says the aim is to ensure clear and consistent operations across all regions. This is why the decision has been made to use the Posti brand both in the Nordics and in the Baltics – SmartPosti in the Baltics, Posti in Sweden.

“By harmonising and streamlining our operating models, we are building up a unified Posti for a long time to come,” says Mickus. “This change will help us to be clearer and more understandable both internally and among our clients.”

Mickus adds that the unified Posti brand will help to strengthen the company’s image as a versatile and strong logistics partner. Posti’s strategic growth focus is on Sweden and the Baltics, and the unified brand is intended to support these ambitions in coming years.

The brand change will be implemented early in 2025.

Smartpost Itella is also building a new sorting centre in the town of Rae near Tallinn, Estonia. Work is scheduled to be completed by early 2025. Investments in the new sorting centre amount to EUR 14 million, and that will be Posti’s largest sorting centre in the Baltics.

The new outdoor parcel machines are to be installed later this year to enhance customer convenience. They will allow clients to ship and collect goods on a 24/7 basis.

The transition to the Posti name in Estonia will begin during the first half of next year.
