The Estonian Broadband Development Foundation (ELASA) has informed the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority of a disruption in the submarine cable between the mainland and Vormsi island.
On Wednesday, the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority received information that a fault has occurred in the submarine cable between Vormsi and the mainland, owned by ELASA. This cable is not an international communication line but connects mainland Estonia with the Vormsi and Hiiumaa islands.
Telecommunication companies providing services through the cable affirmed that the interruption has no noticeable impact on end-users, and communication between Vormsi and Hiiumaa is maintained through other cables.
The cause of the interruption is currently unknown. The owner of the cable is working on repairs, and the investigation will also look into what might have caused the fault.
