Telecom operator Telia lost the most cellphone numbers in Estonia to other operators in February, with a record number of 1,787 numbers leaving its network during the month due to the company’s price hike policy, Postimees reports.
Rival operator Elisa was the one to gain most numbers, 1,499, while Tele2 gained 276 numbers, it appears from data made available by the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority. For comparison, 324 customers left Telia in January.
At the end of January, Telia announced a significant change in its pricing policy, resulting in a 100-percent increase for some users. Generally, the increase was accompanied by a slight boost in the customers’ data plan.
In 2023, Tele2 lost the most telephone numbers, seeing 7,094 numbers migrate from its network during the year. Elisa gained 5,237 numbers and Telia 2,528.
