US company to expand operations in Lithuania

The US-based medical technology company Dexcom has announced that it will expand its clinical affairs team to Lithuania after opening an initial office in Vilnius four years ago.

The company will hire new people to join its 500-worker team at its Global Business Services hub in the Lithuanian capital city.  This was reported by Lithuania’s foreign investment promotion agency, Investuok Lietuvoje (Invest Lithuania).

Dexcom says that Lithuania is perfect for it because of its strong business environment, skilled workforce and strategic location in the EMEA region.

“The country offers a highly educated talent pool, particularly in areas such as technology, life sciences and business services, which align perfectly with our operational needs,” says Stayce Beck, VP for clinical affairs at Dexcom.  “Lithuanian hospitals have the right competency in the fields of endocrinological clinical trials.  This is valuable expert which supports our research and development efforts.  Along with Lithuania’s supportive infrastructure and pro-business policies, these factors have made it the ideal partner for our continued growth and innovation.”

Rosita Vasilkeviciute-Marcene, director of Dexcom Lithuania, also argues that Vilnius is an ideal location to expand clinical trials into the EMEA region.

So far Dexcom has mostly conducted clinical research in the United States, but in recent years it has been focusing more on Europe.  The expansion to Lithuania reflects the firm’s commitment toward broadening its efforts on the continent.

The Dexcom office in Vilnius is a key component in this expansion.
