In January-April this year, 2.985 million tons of cargo were handled at the terminals of the Port of Ventspils, which is 25.9 percent less than in the corresponding period of 2023, according to information published by the Transport Ministry.
In the first four months of 2024, 1.826 million tons of cargo were shipped from the Port of Ventspils, which is 21.9 percent less than in the same period last year, while the volume of cargo received decreased by 31.5 percent, amounting to 1.159 million tons.
In the first four months of this year, the Port of Ventspils terminals handled 1.19 million tons of dry bulk cargo, down 15 percent, 1.242 tons of liquid cargo, 30.6 percent less than in the same period last year, and 552,400 tons of general cargo, 34.1 percent less than in the same period last year.
In the first four months of this year, petroleum products were handled at the Port of Ventspils terminals in the amount of 1.053 tons, which is 36.8 percent less than in the corresponding period of 2023, coal was handled in the amount of 457,600 tons, which is 28.1 percent less, while roll on/roll off cargo was handled in the amount of 441,400 tons, which is 35.7 percent less.
As reported, the port terminals based in the port of Ventspils reloaded 10.418 million tons of cargos in 2023, down 29.3 percent from a year before, LETA was told at the Freeport of Ventspils Authority.
In the first four months of 2023, the port terminals handled 4.029 million tons.
Ventspils is Latvia’s second largest port by cargo turnover.
