86 pct of Lithuanians happy with their quality of life – Eurobarometer

86 percent of Lithuanians say their quality of life is good, while 75 percent say the country’s economic situation is also good, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey published on Tuesday.

40 percent said the cost of living is the most important problem at the moment, while 27 percent said health is the most important problem and 26 percent mentioned the economic situation and unemployment.

Problems in the education system were cited as the main problem by 21 percent of Lithuanians, while 19 percent mentioned the exit of businesses.

According to the survey, 64 percent of respondents in the Vilnius region and 63 percent in Central and Western Lithuania tend to trust regional and local authorities. And 78 percent and 73 percent of respondents respectively trust the European Union.

66 percent of respondents in the Vilnius region and 53 percent in central and western Lithuania have a positive view of the EU.

46 percent from the Vilnius region and 44 proc. from the rest of Lithuania identified security and defense as the most important aspect of the EU for the future of Europe, while 23 percent and 29 percent respectively mentioned the economy, social justice and jobs.

Education, culture, youth and sport were mentioned by 22 percent of Vilnius region residents as the most important aspect for the future of Europe. 30 percent of respondents from Central and Western Lithuania mentioned health as the most important aspect.

87 percent of people in the Vilnius region and 81 percent in Central and Western Lithuania have a positive outlook on the country’s future, while the future of the EU was viewed positively by 75 percent and 70 percent respectively, and viewed negatively by 5 percent and 8 percent respectively.

The Eurobarometer survey of 616 people in Lithuania and a total of 62,091 people in 194 regions as carried out between January 11 and February 15.
