Around 400 people signed during first hours of signature collection campaign on dissolution of parliament

Around 400 people signed during the first hours on initiating a referendum on the dissolution of the 14th Saeima, according to information published on Latvija.lv portal.

The collection of signatures will be open for one year. In order to initiate a referendum on dissolution of the parliament, at least 10 percent of eligible voters or 154,241 Latvian citizens aged 18 or over, must sign the initiative.

As reported earlier, the collection of signatures for the referendum was initiated by eight different political forces. The parties Latvia First, Stability, People’s Power, Sovereign Power, Servants of the People for Latvia, Association of New Latvians and the party alliances Pamats-LV and New Harmony have turned to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to collect signatures on initiating a referendum.

Andrejs Vaivars, a representative of the CEC, informed LETA that the Election Commission has decided to merge all eight initiatives of the different political forces in one signature collection campaign.
