Latvijas Pasts to focus on operations at shopping centers

Latvijas Pasts national postal company will henceforth focus on operations at shopping centers, Latvijas Pasts CEO Beate Krauze-Cebotare said Tuesday in an interview on TV3 channel.

She indicated that the objective is to extend post offices’ working hours as much as possible and to provide postal services at conveniently accessible locations, including to people with impaired mobility. “The future strategy therefore is to set up post offices at shopping centers,” said Krauze-Cebotare.

She explained that shopping centers are easier to access, including by public transport, and they remain open also on Saturdays and Sunday.

According to Krauze-Cebotare,  the postal company has worked out a new business strategy, which has yet to be approved by all the relevant authorities.

Latvijas Pasts has also approved an expansion of its network of parcel machines. “So Latvijas Pasts will have even more parcel machines in Latvia, and we will be the largest network, surpassing our competitors next year,” the head of the postal company said.

Latvijas Pasts’ turnover last year was EUR 100.009 million, which is 5.1 percent less than in 2021, and the company made a profit of EUR 2.21 million, compared to a loss the year before.

Latvijas Pasts provides postal services throughout the territory of Latvia. The company’s core function is the provision of the universal postal service, in addition to commercial, express, payment, press, retail and philatelic services. Latvijas Pasts is a fully state-owned company.
