More than 7,000 Ukrainian families receive housing loans

More than 7,000 Ukrainian families have received housing loans under the eOselia (eHousing) programme totalling UAH 10.7 billion since the programme’s launch. 62% of them are contract service members and law enforcement officers. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Nadiia Bihun.

“More than 7,000 Ukrainian families have already received housing loans worth UAH 10.7 billion since the launch of the eOselia programme. 62% of them are contract service members and law enforcement officers, 11% are teachers and scientists, and 9% are doctors. Representatives of these professions can take out a loan at 3% interest rate. At the same time, 18% of borrowers are Ukrainians who do not have their own housing or want to improve their living conditions – they obtained a loan on a mass mortgage terms at 7%. Most loans were taken out by residents of Kyiv region and the city of Kyiv, as well as Lviv, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Odesa and Rivne regions. Housing loans are also in demand in the frontline regions, with people taking out loans in Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv regions. As of last week, the programme allows borrowers to purchase not only apartments, but also private houses and townhouses,” said Nadiia Bihun.

Last week, Ukrainians received 144 loans worth UAH 232 million under the eOselia programme, including:

  • 80 service members of the military and security forces, 11 teachers, 10 doctors and 1 scientist received loans at 3%;
  • 37 Ukrainians without their own housing and 5 IDPs received loans at 7%.

Loans were most often taken to purchase housing on the secondary market (105 loans) and from a developer (31). Also, 8 Ukrainians took out loans to buy an apartment under construction.

Most mortgage loans were taken out by residents of:

  • Kyiv region – 40
  • Kyiv city – 29;
  • Lviv region – 9;
  • Odesa region – 8;
  • Rivne and Khmelnytskyi regions – 7 each.

Today, the affordable lending programme is available to representatives of certain professions and citizens who do not own housing or want to improve its conditions. For contract service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, teachers, doctors and scientists, the preferential rate is 3% per annum. For other categories – combatants, veterans, IDPs and other citizens – the mortgage rate is 7%.

Background

The eOselia programme was launched in October 2022. The programme is implemented by the Ministry of Economy jointly with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Ukrfinzhytlo. The partner banks of the eOselia are Oschadbank, Privatbank, Ukrgasbank, Globus Bank, Sky Bank, Ukreximbank and Sense Bank.
