Over 200 skiers to participate in Scandinavian Cup 2024 in Otepaa

More than 200 skiers from seven countries will compete in the Scandinavian Cup 2024 competitions at the Tehvandi sports center in Otepaa, southern Estonia, this coming weekend.

The schedule of the competitions, which will be taking place from Friday to Sunday, includes a classic sprint and interval start distance races in both classic and free technique. In addition to Estonian athletes, skiers from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, the United States and Australia will participate in the Scandinavian Cup.

For the first time in Estonia, a check of compliance with the fluor wax ban of the International Ski Federation (FIS) will be carried out. The skis will be tested by a FIS-certified specialist with FIS apparatus, which will arrive from the Tour de Ski.

The Scandinavian Cup is the second most important competition in cross-country skiing after the World Cup series. Among the Norwegians, Swedes and Finns, a high-level group is expected to take part in the competitions. For these countries, the Scandinavian Cup is especially important, because the winners of this competition get a place in the World Cup stages directly.
